Our EMS education programs are designed to offer rapid yet comprehensive training for aspiring EMS professionals. EMT-Basic Courses

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) – Basic Level:
This signifies the entry-level of EMS training. The curriculum is offered via three distinct courses, each with a unique duration – a compact 8-week course in Carol Stream, IL, a more spread-out 16-week course in Skokie & Carol Stream, IL, and a balanced 12-week course in Lincoln Park, Michigan. To be eligible for these courses, candidates must fulfill certain requirements. These include holding a high school diploma or its equivalent GED, being at least 18 years of age, successfully clearing a background check devoid of felony convictions, and possessing current, valid vaccine records. Materials provided in the tuition include a textbook, workbook, eCard access for the textbook, a blood pressure cuff, stethoscope, uniform polo shirt, trauma shears, pen light, and a state and federal background check. Testing fees are not included in the tuition.

EMT-Basic Course 12 Weeks

(Lincoln Park, MI)

This is a comprehensive course designed at the college level, covering all necessary skills and knowledge to perform as an EMT-Basic. This course involves significant study time and practical training.

Prerequisites:
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be 18 or older when scheduling the NREMT Exam after successful completion of course
  • Must be able to PASS a 10-panel drug screening (Conducted at LifeLine Academy)
  • Must be able to PASS a background check with no felony convictions
  • Vaccine Records Required & Must be Current
  • COVID 19 Vaccine (preferred) or submit to weekly PCR Testing (at student cost)
  • Current TB Test

In essence, it’s not for the faint-hearted, but for those ready to buckle down and make a serious commitment to their career aspirations.

      EMT-Basic Course – 16 Weeks

      (Carol Stream, IL & Skokie, IL)

      This course offers a thorough and extensive training experience, spread over a longer time frame. It’s thoughtfully designed for individuals who might be juggling their educational pursuits alongside other life obligations. In essence, this course is all about flexibility, understanding that your journey to becoming an EMT doesn’t have to come at the expense of your current responsibilities.

      Prerequisites:
      • A High School Diploma or GED is required
      • Must be 18 or older when scheduling the NREMT Exam after successful completion of course
      • Must be able to PASS a 10-panel drug screening (Conducted at LifeLine Academy)

        Advanced EMT Course (AEMT Class):

        Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) Classes- Higher Level: This is a 14-week AEMT program designed for higher education and taught at the college level. In addition to the prerequisites for the EMT-Basic level, the applicant must be able to pass a 10-panel drug screening and have a valid MI EMT-B license and a current CPR card (BLS). Materials included in the tuition include a textbook, EMS Testing Platinum Planner online access, two uniform shirts, state and federal background check, and a 10-panel drug screening. Testing fees are not included in the tuition.

        Advanced EMT Course – 14 Weeks

        This course is designed for EMTs who want to advance their skills and abilities beyond the basic level. This course involves intensive study and practical experience.

        Prerequisites:
        • A High School Diploma or GED is required
        • Must be 18 or older when scheduling the NREMT Exam after successful completion of course
        • Must be able to PASS a 10-panel drug screening (Conducted at LifeLine Academy)
        • Must be able to PASS a background check with no felony convictions

          Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Course:

          Emergency Medical Responder (EMR Class): This is a 10-day certification course provided in both Illinois and Michigan. The prerequisites for our EMR courses include having a high school diploma or GED and being aged 21+. Upon completion of this course and receiving the license, the participant can work on an ambulance with a licensed EMT at LifeLine Ambulance. The materials included in the course tuition are similar to the EMT-Basic level.

          Emergency Medical Responder Course – 8 Weeks

          This course is crafted with the intention of imparting students with the foundational knowledge and practical skills necessary to excel as an Emergency Medical Responder. Our approach combines interactive classroom learning with tangible, hands-on experiences, ensuring our students are not just theoretically proficient, but also practically adept in managing real-world emergency scenarios.

          Prerequisites:
          • A High School Diploma or GED is required
          • Must be 18 or older when scheduling the NREMT Exam after successful completion of course
          • Must be able to PASS a 10-panel drug screening (Conducted at LifeLine Academy)
          • Must be able to PASS a background check with no felony convictions

            ACLS:

            This is an Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support course, and it has both a Full Certification Course and a Re-Certification Course. Both are 8-hour courses for healthcare professionals or personnel in emergency response.

            PALS:

            This stands for Pediatric Advanced Life Support. It also has a Full Certification Course and a Re-Certification Course. These are structured as 8-hour training programs, specifically intended for healthcare providers who handle infant and child emergencies, or for individuals involved in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care, and critical care units.

            From Inactive Status to Active Practice: Refresher Courses and Recertification

            LifeLine EMS Academy understands the importance of staying current and updated in the EMS field. For those who have been on inactive status or whose certifications are nearing expiration, we offer refresher courses and assistance with recertification. Our online refresher course options offer flexibility and convenience.

              BLS CPR-RECERT for The Healthcare Provider:

              This course serves as a Basic Life Support (BLS) recertification program tailored for existing healthcare professionals and other individuals necessitating BLS certification. It imparts essential knowledge in CPR and diverse cardiovascular life support capabilities, applicable in an array of in-facility and prehospital environments.

                  LifeLine Academy EMT, AEMT & EMR Training FAQs

                  What tuition discounts do you offer?
                  • We offer a 10% paid in full, 10% 1st responder or family of a 1st responder
                  • Military: $200.00 off total tuition – MI
                  • Illinois: Military $175, 1st responder $175
                  • Michigan & Illinois: Only one discount may be applied to each student tuition.
                  • Illinois: Tuition Reimbursement for working with Lifeline: Full time for 1 year $800.00 paid in two installments one at 6 months the final at 1 year. Or part-time for 1 year $400.00 paid in the same manner.
                  What is the process to enroll?

                  Michigan Cost: $200.00 down to enroll, $1400.00 remainder of $1600.00 tuition may be paid with installments, ½ paid week prior to midterm, full due 1 week before final.

                  Illinois Cost: $600 due upon enrollment, remainder must be paid prior to midterm.

                  What if I have something appear on my background check report?
                  • Every student must be able to pass a state/federal background check to attend a program. If any information comes back on that check, that could prevent the student from becoming licensed. Each student will be responsible to contact NREMT to inquire about background check history to inquire if the history will prevent licensure.

                  Do you offer Scholarships?

                  We do not currently offer scholarships in our Michigan or Illinois programs but we are exploring that option in Illinois.

                  What kind of work can I get after being licensed?

                  Private EMS, Fire Department, ER technician. Get paramedic, Fire, Private, Flight Medic, Swat Medic. Many possibilities open with continued education credits used for licensure renewal.

                  Do you help with job placement?

                  Yes, we are sponsored by a private EMS company called Lifeline Ambulance. We guarantee an interview for every student that shows an interest to work with them, and demonstrates a strong work ethic within our program. Every student that shows us they will be a good fit for lifeline ambulance will receive a personal recommendation from our Academy staff, which goes a long way with the company.

                  How long are your programs?
                  • MI: EMT- Basic: 13/14 weeks. 2 days per week. The 14th week is reserved for any student who may need to retest at any of their hands on final testing.
                  • MI: AEMT: 3 months 1 day per week 9am – 5pm
                  • IL: EMT-B: 16 week 2 days a week, or 8 week 4 days per week.
                  What are finals like?

                  Finals will consist of two parts, a written final, and a hands-on or psychomotor final.

                  Will I be licensed once I complete your course?

                  No, upon successful completion of our program you will be eligible to test at National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians or (NREMT) for short. You will get 6 attempts and 2 years to pass the NREMT examination. Immediately following our program, you will be eligible to test your first 3 attempts. Should you not pass within those 3, you will be required to take a refresher program to open the remaining 3 attempts. Should you not pass within all 6 attempts or 2 years has elapsed, you must retake an initial program over again. Following successful completion of NREMT, you will submit all your information to the State with an application for licensure. You will submit a nominal fee, and once the state processes all your information they will issue you a license.

                  • Trauma boots & Pants. To complete the uniform each student will need pants and boots, tuition does not cover the cost of this half of the uniform. Each location has resources for students that need help in where to find this equipment.

                  What are the fees for State Licensure?
                  • Illinois EMT-B state license fee: $45.00
                  • Michigan EMT-B state license fee: $40.00

                  Do I need to be an EMT Basic before enrolling into Advanced EMT in Michigan?

                  Yes. Michigan requires that students must be EMT-B certified prior to enrolling in AEMT programs.

                  Do you offer any financial aid?

                  Currently we have no financial aid in place however, we are currently working on ways we may be able to accept certain financial aid programs.

                  Do I need a driver’s license to become an EMT?

                  Yes & no. You will not be prevented from obtaining your provider license as an EMT-B solely because you don’t have a driver’s license. However, you may find that some employers may not hire you if you cannot drive.

                  Do you offer Paramedic classes?

                  Not currently.

                  Do you offer refresher programs?

                  Not currently. The schedule and curriculums are in the process of being completed, deadline for those classes being offered. TBD.

                  Will you host students from out of the country?

                  Yes. However, the student will need all the required prerequisites, be able to pass a background check, a drug screen for our Michigan program and be eligible to work within the U.S following the program. Each student is also responsible for their scholastic/work VISA, and housing. The Academy does not have visa, or housing sponsorships.

                  Can I work with Lifeline Ambulance while I attend a program?

                  Michigan: Yes. If you are attending an AEMT program and wish to work as an EMT-B for Lifeline Ambulance we can help arrange an interview.

                  Michigan & Illinois Non-Licensed Students: Lifeline Ambulance may have some non-licensed positions become available such as garage porter, or Non-Emergent Driver (NEV/Wheelchair van). Based on open position availability, any student may apply for one of these positions. If the student shows our staff a strong professional work ethic within the program, our staff will have no issues offering a recommendation for job placement to the Ambulance company.

                  What are the educational benefits for starting my career with Lifeline?

                  We offer every employee continued education free of charge. Any continuing education class that is hosted by the Academy or Operations with Lifeline Ambulance will be completely free of charge to the employee. This includes the AHA certifications that you must keep current, while working as an EMT.
